Melanie Houston, MSW

Melanie’s work as a Research Coordinator with Dr. Irene Headen at Drexel University to use system dynamics to explore intersections of structural racism, maternal mortality and neighborhood segregation dynamics. She also uses her background in DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) and dialogue work to shape her work as a consultant on projects utilizing system dynamics to engage community members to develop interventions for promoting equitable health outcomes. She is interested in developing methods to utilize community-based system dynamics to support development of sustainable paths to liberation, equity and wellness for BIPOC on micro and macro levels. She earned her MSW (Health, System Dynamics) from WUSTL in 2018 and her Bachelor’s in sociology and Certificate in Documentary Studies at Duke University in 2013.  She enjoys watching basketball, traveling, crafting, and anything that gets her outside.
