Katie Allen

Katie Allen (she/her) is an MSW/MSP student at the Brown School. For her MSW, Katie is pursuing a concentration in Domestic Social and Economic Development with a specialization in System Dynamics. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Georgia in 2021, where she interned with Georgia’s Department of Family and Children Services. Katie has additional experience engaging with children and families through her work in community outreach organizations, childhood education programs, and prisons. She is currently completing her MSW practicum at Beyond Housing, working in the Economic Development department. These experiences have furthered her interest in advocating for anti-poverty initiatives and economic justice. She is passionate about using system dynamics to understand the drivers and impacts of poverty on communities and to identify sustainable interventions that promote equity and disrupt the intergenerational cycle of poverty.
